The 101 is a typical midwestern supper club, a restaurant and bar, family owned for generations, open only for supper, serving homemade food and old-fashioned cocktails. The logo reflects the location. The 101 is found at the bottom of the hill on First St in LaSalle, a few feet from the railroad tracks.
Our goal is to provide great food and service in a fun, welcoming environment. We serve the Illinois Valley favorites like pork tenderloin, fried chicken family style, and broiled cod with drawn butter. Customers also love our specialties like hand battered pepper rings, Lyonnaise potatoes, and our bacon-wrapped Scottish salmon.
Patrons often order a Manhattan cocktail before dinner and finish with a Brandy Alexander or Grasshopper ice cream drink for dessert. Socialize at the bar, dine with a group, or cozy up in a booth but always come for the fun at the 101!
The 101 has been a supper club for generations. It was purchased in 1952 by Betty and Earl Monari but old pictures show it was a supper club long before that. When the Monaris retired and closed the doors on April 1st, locals hoped it was an April Fool’s joke.
Exactly two years later on April 1st, 2017, Donnie Moore and his wife Ellen reopened Monaris 101 as the 101 Supper Club. Donnie grew up in nearby Oglesby, IL where his parents founded the Rootbeer Stand.
Eager to pursue a career in the restaurant biz, he studied restaurant management, worked at the Starved Rock Lodge as a bartender and floor manager, and then moved to Colorado where he continued to work in the hospitality industry in ski and resort towns in the Rockies.
Now married to a Colorado native, Donnie brought his wife Ellen to the IL Valley to fulfill a dream to open his own restaurant and continue the Supper Club tradition.
First time back last night and the only thing I would change is..nothing! It was excellent. We got the pepper rings as an app with the choo choo sauce (sweet and spicy) and I had my old stand by of broiled chicken. It couldn’t have been better. We felt very welcomed and had excellent service just like before. So happy this place went from the hands of one great family to another.Julie Danielle
The fried chicken was perfection. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Prepared simply so you can really enjoy the quality of the ingredients. I ordered the half portion so I would have some leftover. It was still crispy the next day! Bonus: The hot food is served piping HOT and the salads are COLD and crisp.
